Pipedrive vs HubSpot Sales Hub

One has no free plan and a low entry price; the other is free forever and expensive later. Compared on tiers, gating and what each costs at scale.

This is the comparison most small sales teams end up making, and the two products are further apart than their feature lists suggest. Pipedrive sells a focused sales tool at a published per-seat price with no free option. HubSpot gives the sales half of a large platform away and charges heavily for the tiers above it. Which of those is cheaper depends entirely on where you stop.

The shape of the price ladder

Pipedrive's ladder is short and even. Lite is US$14 per seat per month billed annually, then US$39, US$59 and US$79. There is no free plan, and the fourteen-day trial ends with nothing underneath it. Every rung is published, and the steps between them are proportionate.

HubSpot's ladder starts at nothing and then jumps. The free tools carry contact management, a deal pipeline, email tracking and a mailbox integration, capped at two users and a thousand contacts but never expiring. Starter is US$7 per seat per month billed annually. Professional is US$90, and it carries a required one-time onboarding purchase of US$1,500 before you can use it. Enterprise is US$150 with a US$3,500 equivalent.

So for a team that stays on free or Starter, HubSpot is dramatically cheaper. For a team that needs Professional, the first year costs several times what the equivalent Pipedrive tier does.

What each one withholds from its entry plan

Both gate, but they gate different things. Pipedrive holds back mailbox sync, workflow automation and forecast reports until Growth at US$39 — which means the entry plan is a pipeline and a contact list, and most teams are really choosing the second tier. HubSpot puts mailbox integration and email tracking in the free tools, and holds back sequences, deeper automation and custom objects for the paid tiers.

That inversion matters more than any feature count. If your requirement is "my email in the CRM", HubSpot delivers it for nothing and Pipedrive charges US$39 a seat for it.

Which should you choose?

Choose Pipedrive if you want a sales tool rather than a platform, you know you need mailbox sync and automation, and you would rather pay a predictable US$39 a seat than manage a free tier you will outgrow. The pipeline-first design is genuinely better at the one job it does.

Choose HubSpot Sales Hub if you are starting from a spreadsheet, if a free tier that never expires is worth more to you than polish, or if you expect to want marketing and service tooling later. Just price Professional, including its onboarding fee, before you commit — that is the step where this decision is actually made.
